baby shower - part two

Check out part one if you missed it on Friday.

The second shower we did at my parents' house.
Sign in for the baby book

Front table in entry way.
Isn't that diaper cake AMAZING!?! My mom's cousin made that. Beautiful!
I also made the onesie confetti with my Silhouette.

This is my inspiration for the blessing tree. I emailed Emily at BabyBerry and asked for more details and she was so sweet to write me back and give me lots of details and a few links to look at for examples!
I decided last minute that I actually wanted to do one, so I kind of threw it together. I would usually NEVER have something like that handwritten, mostly because I'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to that...but I didn't really have any other option!

Delicious strawberry shortcake cupcakes from Bake Cupcakes!

Delicious mini fruit pizza bar
{Found these on Sarah's blog too. She mentioned how she was partly responsible for finishing these off...oh my. I don't doubt it, they are so so yummy!!}

 Close-up of my labels/tags

Measuring her cute belly :)

Opening presents!

I know I've said it multiple times...but I'm so ready to meet Brooklynn! Only about a week left!

Have a blessed Monday!

ps. The winner for my 100 followers giveaway is Susan!!
And as an extra bonus, I'm offering 20% off everything in my etsy shop now through the end of tomorrow (2/28). Just use the code TAKE20OFF!

baby shower - part one

If you've read my blog for a few months, you know my middle sister is pregnant. She's due in 12 days!! (but scheduled to be induced in 10 days!!) This will be our first niece and the first grandchild on my side.
She's already spoiled. rotten. :)

A few weeks ago I helped host 2 baby showers for Katy. I have grown to really love party crafts! My Silhouette is an amazing piece of technology and it can create some pretty cute stuff!
Since I helped host both showers, they looked very similar. They had the same theme, invitations, banner, etc. So I'm showing part one - the first shower today, and will be back on Monday with the second shower.

The invite. The onesie was 3D with a popup dot.

The awesome wreath my mom and sister made!

The banner my Silhouette helped me make.
And my very-pregnant, but still-so-small sister. :)
She's 34 1/2 weeks pregnant here.

(I'm sad a lot of these pictures didn't come out very well. I was trying to use my parents' nice Canon camera on manual mode...and it looked good on the little preview screen, but most of them are out of focus or off color.)

A lot of my inspiration for this shower I found on Sarah's blog.

Amazing cake by a family friend!
Water bottles with stinkin cute labels! :)
Also found this tutorial on Sarah's blog.

Me and Katy
Mom, me, middle sister Katy, youngest sister Becca, and grandma

Katy with the bow holder I made! I'll post more on that later next week.
I love babies. I love baby clothes and bows and dolls.
Can you tell I am really excited to have a niece soon?
I'll be back on Monday with the details of the second shower!
Have a blessed weekend!

ps. Don't forget about my canvas giveaway that ends tomorrow night!

our valentine's day {2012}

Our Valentine's Day was pretty low key this year.
I ended up working an extra shift at work and Chris was buried in his thesis. Romantic, huh? ;)
Buuut...we went out to eat last Friday to celebrate because we knew the crowds would be crazy on Tuesday night. The meal was delicious but was even more wonderful because we had a $20 giftcard AND the waitress comp'ed Chris' tea and our dessert. She got herself a good tip! ;)

We don't normally do big gifts for V-Day, but in one of our many trips to Home Depot in the past few weeks I spotted this beauty.
We had talked about replacing our living room rug for a while and I fell in love with this one!
We quickly decided to give this to each other for V-Day. I know I said we don't do big gifts....but it was an excuse to replace the rug. :)

So this is before...
(pic from when we moved in June '10)
I love the color red. I really liked this rug, but it was around during the house-breaking days with Scout so it had a few "stains" and a couple holes where Scout had eaten the shag. (In his defense...I think we had dropped some crumbs and he was just thoroughly cleaning up our mess!)

Here is the new one!

Sidenote: I cleaned Scout's toys and he had dragged them back out in the 30 seconds it took for me to climb in the chair!

What do you think?
I love that it's lighter, so it brightens up the room a lot AND that it's bigger. To me the room feels bigger too. I'm a little anxious about getting it dirty now because it's a light color, but so far so good. :)

Looking over these pictures, I realized I never blogged about the chair Chris' cousin gave us!
We went to help them move a few months ago and they offered us this chair!! Heck yes! We obviously took it off their hands!
As soon as we got it home and sat in it a few times it started flaking the leather stuff, but it's so comfy!

That's our exciting Valentine's Day! I am so blessed to have a husband who shows his love every day rather than one day a year. :)

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm linking up with Jamie today for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm {loving} the pendant banner I made for Valentine's Day!
I found this cute idea from Landee See, Landee Do and decided to try it out for myself. I love how it turned out!! I may try to change it out to green shades of shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day.

I'm {loving} vanilla cupcake Goldfish!
They taste a lot like Teddy Grahams and they're delicious!

I'm {loving} these precious pictures of my neice!!
My sister, Katy, is due on March 7 and it 37 weeks pregnant today. Katy even said she looked at some of our baby pictures and thought the picture of Brooklynn on the right looks like my baby pictures! :) I can't wait to meet her and kiss those sweet cheeks!

I'm {loving} my sweet husband!
He's turning in his thesis THIS Friday!! He's been working hard hard hard to get it finished and I'm so proud of him!

Have a blessed rest of the week!!

valentine's day swap reveal

I'm linking up with Tara today to reveal what I got from the Valentine's day swap!
I was partnered with the beautiful Sarah from Simply Sarah Style.  You should go check out her blog, it's filled with decorating ideas, DIY projects AND she got engaged last week!! So exciting!

First, I made her this card with my Silhouette Cameo.
You can see the rest of her goodies at her blog...

Ok, when I got her package in the mail I was so excited that I just ripped into everything without first taking a picture of the adorable packaging. I stopped myself midway through opening this one and pieced it back together so I can show you how cute it was!!! It all had the matching houndstooth ribbon...love!!

And here are the goods. She did AWESOME! I kinda-sorta-really love sweets, so this was a great gift!

Here's my photoshopping art since I didn't have a real cupcake that day. ;)

Thank you so much Sarah! So glad to have met another blogger AND get a perfect gift!
